 Northwestern State University of Lousiana
Northwestern State University began its 125 year history in 1884 when the Louisiana State Legislature created it as the Louisiana State Normal School for preparation of teachers. In 1970 the University acquired its present name of Northwestern State University of Louisiana. Within the University the College of Science and Technology offers degrees in Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Physics, Engineering Technology, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health and Human Performance and Mathematics. Pre-professional programs are offered in Cardiopulmonary Science, Medicine/Denistry, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physician Assistant, Veterinary Medicine and Engineering.
Within the Department of Engineering Technology Bachelor of Science degrees are offered in Electronics Engineering Technology; with concentrations in biomedical and electronics; Industrial Engineering Technology. An Associate of Science is offered in Electronics Technology.
NSU will become a PLTW National Affiliate Training Center in the Summer of 2010.

Room And Board: Cost: 189.00; Meal plan does not include all meals. Included within the plan are 10 breakfasts, 11 lunches, 5 dinners and 1 complementary dinner. STI participants are on their own for potentially 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 7 dinners. Since some participants choose to go home, not recommended, over the weekend between the two weekly training periods, we do not include those meals in our meal plan. For those STI participants who remain in Natchitoches for those six weekend meals, the NSU dining hall is available. There are a number of other dining facilities off campus. Additionally, the breakfast, lunch and dinner on the first Sunday of the STI period are also "on your own" meals. Cost:$476.00; Single room, private bath, with linens, towels, washcloths and restroom supplies provided. Student must provide their own pillow. Refunds for cancellations may be requested up to one month or earlier before the scheduled start of STI. Request for cancellation must be either by fax, e-mail or postal. A $40.00 service charge will be assessed to process refunds. For cancellations made after May 15, 2012 no tuition will be refunded. Housing and Meal fees will be refunded less upfront costs incurred by the Department of Engineering Technology for these respective services.
