Rowan University

From the modest normal school begun 75 years ago, Rowan University has become an extraordinary comprehensive institution that has improved the quality of life for the citizens of New Jersey and the surrounding states.  In the 1990s, the College of Engineering at Rowan University was made possible by a transformational legacy from Henry and Betty Rowan, a $100 million pledge in 1992.  As a result of this gift, the College of Engineering was founded on the precepts of a hands-on engineering education.

Rowan University serves 10,000 students as a selective, medium-sized public university located in southern New Jersey between Philadelphia and Atlantic City. With high-tech facilities, engaged professors, and nationally ranked academic and athletic programs, Rowan offers an outstanding education at an exceptional value.

The College of Engineering opened its doors in 1995 and graduated its first class in May 2000. The Engineering Clinics, a multidisciplinary hallmark, are key to the delivery of our educational experience. The Clinics, an eight-semester experience, starts in the freshman year. In the junior/senior years, the Clinics are supported by external funding averaging more than $2 million annually and address real-world projects. Clinic projects include industrial R&D, design, government contracts, applied research and entrepreneurial efforts supported by venture capital funds. Teams averaging three to five students work on approximately 120 Engineering Clinics a year.

Rowan University became a PLTW Affiliate in 2006.
